Villa Jeanette

Property ID : V60
€600,000/Euros

Villa Jeanette has been with the present owners for forty years. A holiday, meant to be, impulse buy, it has hosted many family events especially a Family Wedding. The oldest part of the house dates back to around the 1600’s and formed part of one of the earliest parishes, Timiοs Stavros, in the upper village. In the early 2000’s the house was extended following the discovery of rooms and an extra sterna, under what was thought to be flat land next to the original house. The architect faithfully recreated, in collaboration with the Archaeological Department, the buildings in the Symi Village style with arches and patios sympathetic to the area. This restoration includes a Tower which is believed to be one of the original lookout Towers for the Village. Standing on top of the Tower it is easy to see why this would have been the case as the 360 views of the Village, Mountains and bays also affords sight of the distant Turkish hills. In 2013, a further vaulted room was discovered which may have been a ‘safe room’ for the original occupiers and was remembered by one of the older men in the village who worked in the house as a boy when it was being used as a Butchers shop in the mid 20th Century. Nestling in Upper Chorio, Villa Jeanette affords traditional Greek village living with the modern additions of Airconditioning and local Shop deliveries and is a tranquil escape from the hustle and bustle of the busy harbour.
